Chance to appreciate tutors by voting for your favourite teacher
STUDENTS, parents, and the wider community can cast their vote for their favorite teacher on the island in a first-of-its-kind initiative in the kingdom.
The ‘Best Teacher Award’ by D3 Consultants is aimed at being a ‘thoughtful appreciation’ of the greatest tutors in each of our lives and their im- pact which lasts a lifetime.
“We’ve all had a great teacher, they show a real interest in who we are, listen to our thoughts, inspire us to learn and encourage us to achieve our best, no matter what our goals are,” said D3 Consultants managing partner Rima Kaissi.
“The influence of a good teacher lasts a lifetime – from the strong belief that teachers are heroes and exceptional, we launched the ‘Best Teacher Award’ as a first-of-its-kind initiative in Bahrain where the students get to nominate their best teacher.” Through the event, the Sanabis-based educational consultant company hopes to raise the profile of the teaching profession, highlight the positive impact teachers and school leaders have on the society – with pupils, parents, and the wider community, and show teachers how much they are valued.
“Our vision is a teaching profession with high morale and a society that values and celebrates the great work that is done by teachers and leaders in education,” Ms. Kaissi added.
The initiative has received top marks since day one of its recent launch with a daily increase in participation and emails which really indicates how much people are moved positively by the idea and want to show appreciation to the teaching profession, she said.
Ms. Kaissi believes that the decisions teachers take can help in shaping the future of humanity.
“Teachers nurture knowledge, skills, and dispositions in learners and help them along the path to maturity and open their minds to the world with fresh perspectives”, she added.
D3 Consultants truly believes that the ‘Best Teacher Award’ will embrace the vibrancy, hope, and thirst for opportunities that characterizes growth mindsets, she said.
Ms. Kaissi remembers her own AP Calculus AB teacher in high school, ‘Mr. Holmes, who believed in her potential being the only non-native
Middle Eastern student who immigrated during the war to the US and against all odds was accepted in his college preparatory class.
“He continuously supported me and inspired me to always strive for more – under his guidance, I was able to get the highest score in the AP Calculus California State Exam,” she explained fondly.
“Most importantly, he was like a father figure to me, always celebrating my achievements and boosting my self-confidence, and genuinely caring.
“ May his soul rest in peace because, after three decades, he still holds a special place in my heart as someone who inspired me to be a role model and to always strive to make a difference in the world through educating the young,” she added.
The ‘Best Teacher Award’ will be presented to the teacher with the highest vote after due diligence by the team at D3 Consultants.
The winner will be announced on April 15 and the award presented with prizes at a special ceremony at the company’s offices in Sanabis.
